Joanne is the Author of “The Survivor Memoirs” a book containing the detailed stories of different survivors. Joanne explains how and why this amazing project began:

“There were a couple of times as I child that I tried to speak about what had happened to me, but every time I was left feeling even more ashamed and wishing I hadn’t said anything at all. I gave up trying to be heard for years until lockdown began. I felt so lonely and my trauma became too much to handle alone; I decided to scroll social media in the hopes of finding someone, anyone at all, that could relate to how I felt. I came across the if Only… charity and realised I wasn’t alone. Books have always been an escape for me and I imagined how powerful a book would be if it were written by the strongest people I know: Survivors. From this chance encounter, The Survivor Memoirs were born.”
