As Survivors, safety is something we struggle with. Safety in certain places, safety around others and most importantly safety within our own bodies. Something that many who are not survivors, have never needed to consider.
For others, feeling unsafe for the majority of the time is hard to imagine. Safety is something they take for granted until something happens that makes them feel unsafe. As survivors we know that it is very different for us, we spend most of our time on high alert.
We often find ourselves in unsafe situations and in an unsafe mindset due to trying to manage our trauma and the effects it has on us on a daily basis.
This plan is something that can help us during those times when our minds are unable to manage the pain that we are experiencing. It can help us to focus, and to remind us of some of the things that we can do to help us through those moments.
You may want to fill in your safety plan alone or you may want someone you trust, to help you.
If you feel able to share your safety plan with a trusted person please do so, as it will help them to support you through those difficult times.
